Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Community Small Grant Program, which will support nonprofit (501c3) organizations located in Ohio . Grants from $2,000 to $10,000 will be awarded for innovative projects that address local needs related to youth and families, the elderly, people with disabilities and others.
These funds are generated primarily through legal settlements to which the Attorney General is a party. They have been used in the past for a variety of projects, such as community holiday meals for families who are homeless, adult day services for senior citizens, summer camping and mentoring programs for youth, and outdoor rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities. We look forward to hearing how you would use these grant funds to help your community.
Program Specifics
The application deadline is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010.
The project period is for 12 months, and begins November 2010.
A total of $200,000 is being made available for this funding round.
Awardees will be asked to sign grant agreements that spell out reporting requirements.
Funds are intended for specific projects rather than ongoing operational costs • Funds must not supplant current project funds.
Funds cannot be used for:
Political campaigns or promotion of candidates for public office
Advancement of endowment or capital campaigns
Purchase of vehicles
Fundraising event sponsorship
Scholarships that fund individual students
Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, disability, religion, ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation
Sports or athletic competitions

Awardees must be recognized as 501c3 organizations by the Internal Revenue Service, the Office of the Attorney General and the Ohio Secretary of State. All funding decisions are the sole discretion of the Ohio Attorney General.
