album but we do promote it at my concerts, it’s “Te Quiero” originally sang by DJ Flex. I really love that song.
Sol: Do you have any musical influences that you look up to?
MH: I would have to say Selina. Just watching the movie about her life, it was really touching and inspiring. They came up from almost nothing. It’s really inspiring!
Sol: How did you and La Fuerza Del Amor come together?
MH: Well after I had been in a couple of bands my dad and I decided to make our own band. He came up with the name and we just recruited some musicians. Two of the members are my uncles. One plays the piano and my other uncle plays the drums. And the members are friends; they’ve been with us for a while.
Sol: Starting out in the music industry; do you feel like there are any struggles you have to face?
MH: Oh yeah! I’m trying to do something with my music and my band but its hard being a woman in the music industry and being so young. There’s not a lot of female bands or female singers out there and if there is then there is a lot more expected from them. I recently just graduated high school and college so that was also a struggle to balance a music career and a job. It gets a little hectic sometimes.
Sol: Do you see yourself doing more than just singing in your future?
MH: Yeah! I’ve already been doing a lot of modeling for an agency. And as far as acting goes, I’d love to get into that but I’d need more experience.
