Rafael Nadal wins 2nd Wimbledon title!

World No. 1 and second seed Rafael Nadal lifted the Wimbledon trophy for the second time on Sunday when he crushed Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 in the final at the All England Club.

This is Rafa’s eighth Grand Slam title, which equals Jimmy Connors, Ken Rosewall, Ivan Lendl, Andre Agassi and Fred Perry’s record. Nadal has now won back to back French Open- Wimbledon titles twice, achieving the feat this time by winning both finals in straight sets.

Nadal entered yesterday’s match with a 7-3 win-loss record against Berdych, who had beaten Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on his way to the final. But Nadal proved to be a bit too much for him as he went down in straight sets in 2 hours and 13 minutes.

Nadal said winning the title was more than a dream for him and he always wanted to play on the Centre Court at Wimbledon, more so after he had missed out on playing here last year.

Rafa’s main rival Roger Federer of Switzerland has been out of form for a while now, and this is his opportunity to bag a few titles before Federer bounces back.
