Cleveland (April 21, 2011) - The often contentious and explosive relationship between the arts and politics will be the focus of a wide ranging discussion on Wednesday, May 25 at the Creative Voices conversation, the morning session of the annual Arts Summit sponsored by Ideastream and Cleveland State University's (CSU) Center for Arts and Innovation.
Kurt Anderson, host of the nationally syndicated Studio 360, will lead a lively, interactive morning conversation among panelists Tim Page, former classical music critic for the New York Times; John Frohnmayer, former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts; and Darryl McDaniels, founding member, Run DMC."
Rosie Perez, Academy Award nominee, is the keynote speaker at the Arts Education Luncheon at PlayhouseSquare's State Theatre Stage at noon. Thirty-five kindergarten and first grade students from the Campus International School will perform songs in Chinese, a key curricular subject of the school. This is the first time students from the new school will perform in public.
The morning event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at the Westfield Center at the Idea Center, Playhouse Square, 1375 Euclid Avenue at 9:30 a.m. Cost for the luncheon is $25. Online or phone registration is required for both events at csuohio.edu/cai or by calling 216-687-5018.
