Cleveland,OH- The main event has been announced for “Saturday Night Live Boxing: Slugfest on the River”, which will be held at The Plain Dealer Pavilion on September 16, 2006 in downtown Cleveland. Undefeated cruiserweight Aaron Williams (8-0-1, 6 KO’s) will take on Zack Page (11-7, 4 KO’s) in a six-round bout. Williams, recently coming off a first-round knockout of Lloyd Wilson (3-4, 3 KO’s), is a native Clevelander who now trains out of Las Vegas. Page, recently coming off a decision over Roosevelt Johnson (4-8-1, 1 KO), hails from Warren, Ohio.
Also fighting on the card will be Cleveland heavyweight Dan Jambor (5-1-1, 5 KO’s), light middleweight sensations Delaney Howard (4-0, 3 KO’s) and Juan McPherson (2-0, 1 KO) along with female cruiserweight Alecia “Mega” Battle (2-0, 2 KO’s). Juan McPherson’s brother, welterweight Cifford McPherson (2-1, 1 KO) will also be on the card in addition to welterweight Henri White, who will be making his pro debut.
The event is less then three weeks away and it is quickly picking up steam. Sitting ringside at the event will be some of Ohio’s best professional fighters which include the number one middleweight in the world, Youngstown’s Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (28-0, 25 KO’s), #2 IBF heavyweight contender Ray “The Rainman” Austin (24-3-4, 16 KO’s) and female cruiserweight Vonda Ward (21-1, 17 KO’s). Channel 19 Action News anchorwoman will be handling the ring announcing duties at the ‘Mistress of Ceremonies’.
