WHAT: Aarón Sánchez, one of the country's leading contemporary Latin chefs, will be doing a special cooking demonstration outdoors on East 4th Street on July 25 at 5 p.m. The cooking demonstration will feature dishes from Zócalo Mexican Grill & Tequilería's new menu created by Sánchez.
Sánchez has two acclaimed restaurants in New York City and is author of "La Comida del Barrio." He is a former co-host of Food Network's "Melting Pot," and in 2007, he appeared on the network's "The Next Iron Chef," competing against friend and ultimate winner, Cleveland's own Michael Symon. In 2005, Sánchez was nominated as the Rising Star Chef of the Year by the James Beard Foundation and named one of People En Español's 50 Most Beautiful People.
The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. People who would like to attend, see this celebrity chef in action and sample his culinary creations can just show up on July 25.
Zócalo also is offering a chance to win a private dining experience with Sánchez that will take place following the cooking demonstration on July 25. Participants will be selected in a random drawing. For contest rules and details, drop by Zócalo through July 21 to enter.
