INCREASED FUNDING FOR HEAP SHOULD HELP OHIOANS STAY WARM THIS WINTER

Cuyahoga County Dept. of Senior & Adult Services conducts HEAP outreach to seniors and adults with disabilities

Cleveland, Ohio. There is a bright spot for low income Ohioans this winter heating season. Congress has boosted funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) by 78% to 5.1 billion for this fiscal year. Ohio’s share will be $245 million. Cuyahoga County residents 60+ and/or disabled adults 18+ who need assistance with the HEAP application process should call the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior & Adult Services HEAP Coordinator at (216) 420-6830. The interactive 2008 – 2009 Combined Home Energy Assistance Programs application, in both English and Spanish, is available on line at http://dsas.cuyahogacounty.us/HEAP.htm. Applications are accepted through May 31, 2009.

Total household income must be at or below the federal guidelines listed below:

to track the status of your application



Cuyahoga County residents with a home heating emergency should call the 24 Hour Home Energy Assistance Appointment Line at (216) 518-4014. Processing HEAP applications in Columbus may take 10-12 weeks, so residents are advised to apply as soon as possible.
