Cleveland, Ohio. There is a bright spot for low income Ohioans this winter heating season. Congress has boosted funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) by 78% to 5.1 billion for this fiscal year. Ohio’s share will be $245 million. Cuyahoga County residents 60+ and/or disabled adults 18+ who need assistance with the HEAP application process should call the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior & Adult Services HEAP Coordinator at (216) 420-6830. The interactive 2008 – 2009 Combined Home Energy Assistance Programs application, in both English and Spanish, is available on line at
http://dsas.cuyahogacounty.us/HEAP.htm. Applications are accepted through May 31, 2009.
